Once complete, Blenheim Point will offer 180 students a high standard of student living, addressing the need for purpose-built accommodation close to both Leeds city centre and the University for Leeds The project has been sensitively designed to promote inclusiveness both aesthetically and functionally. Spanning 58,000 sq ft, the contemporary seven-storey building by leading local developer, S Harrison Developments, has already become an attractive feature of the streetscape on one of the main routes into the city. Meanwhile inside, each of the 29 spacious cluster apartments contains a large shared living and kitchen space, in addition to a range of communal facilities throughout the building such as common rooms, study spaces and a games room.
To realise this adventurous scheme on a restricted site, Kingspan Steel Building Solutions' KingBuild System (KBS) was selected by main contractors, GMI Construction. With offsite capabilities, increased build speed and unrivalled technical support, this modern and sustainable construction method enabled the external structure to go up in just 18 weeks and is an appropriate way to deliver state-of-the-art accommodation for one of the country's most desirable university cities.
