Light steel specialist Stanta has lent its hand to the
construction of a major expansion to a junior school in Kingston-upon-Thames. Construction
is nearly complete onsite at Burlington Junior School to deliver major upgrades
that will increase the New Malden school’s capacity and provide new, high-end
educational facilities.
Morgan Sindall Construction were appointed by the Royal
Borough of Kingston upon Thames to deliver the new school building to the
Burlington Academy, which will add 120 additional pupil places and help meet a
demand within the growing borough.
Stanta’s scope on the project includes the SFS infill
package and an element of SPSenvirowall insulated render to be installed prior
to the follow-on mesh screen cladding facade.
The new three-storey building will feature a sports hall and
15 high-specification teaching rooms. Contracted works will also see the
development of two multi-use games areas (MUGA), hard and soft landscaping, and
the demolition of a 1970’s CLASP building, which will be replaced by a 60-space
car park for the benefit of both the Junior and Infant and Nursery schools.
A spokesperson for Stanta said: “Another excellent project
Stanta have worked on that is nearing completion on the steel framing system
installation and is looking very tidy indeed.
“This will be a stunning school building when completed and
unlike any other school delivered by Stanta to date. We look forward to seeing
the finished results. Well done to all involved in its delivery.”
