Former CIOB Construction Manager of the Year, John Darling, is now MD of New Ways Construction Limited, an innovative new company determined to change the way the UK builds in the Residential Sector.
Appointed by CEO Sonny McNess, John brings a strong track record of driving growth, delivering strategic plans and experience in design and construction across the EMEA region. Before his appointment, he was an Operations Director at both Mace and ISG.
New Ways Construction was set up by McNess in 2019. In his former role as Head of Metals Trading at JP Morgan, he encountered new, sustainable home-building technologies that he believed could help solve the UK’s housing crisis. He set up New Ways Construction, which now designs, fabricates and builds homes using recycled light gauge steel framing, advanced helical piling technology and ground-floor slab construction. It also equips homes with solar tile and battery energy, plus its own infra-red radiator system and solar heat pumps.
John Darling says: “I wanted to bring my knowledge and skills to a company that’s rethinking the way we do construction. I very much shared the vision to bring together some of the world’s best technologies to produce homes that are cost-efficient to build, affordable to live in and have a low carbon footprint. With secure financial backing and a team that’s attracting some of the best talent, New Ways Construction is set to reshape our industry over the coming years.”
