Construction Of New Railway Station Underway Thanks To LSF

A brand new multi-million-pound railway station is under construction, with a light steel frame system integral to the build. Craft Interiors has been given responsibility for the installation of the light steel system at Cambridge South Railway Station, which will connect the Cambridge Biomedical Campus with potential destinations such as central London, Stansted Airport, and Birmingham.

The station will also provide access to a growing area of high-quality employment and help relieve congestion in the local area by supporting the development of environmentally sustainable transport in Cambridge.

Murphy Group has been handed a £93.4 million contract to construct the new station, which will deliver a new two storey, four platform station on the West Anglia Main adjacent to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

The full scope of Craft's works at the station includes the installation of drylining and the steel framing system, along with acoustic timber panelling, Corten steel cladding, biodiverse roofing and zinc cladding. Work is due to commence shortly with a planned completion in 2025.

Craft Interior is also involved with the ongoing Eddington construction in north Cambridge. The development will provide 373 new homes comprising both houses and apartments in four blocks. For this project, Craft has secured the drylining, ceilings, partitions, steel framing systems screeding and brick slip cladding. The development is due to complete in 2025.
