LSF Integrated System Accelerates Delivery Of 171 Homes

The use of British Offsite’s light steel frame solution has seen the build programme of a housing estate in Bury St Edmunds reduced by around five months.

The Tayfen Court residential project features the installation of 513 UNipanels for external walls, 397 UNiwall panels for internal compartmentalisation, combined with the UNifloor system. This marks the first use of British Offsite’s integrated UNisystem, a solution designed for buildings up to six storeys and a maximum finished floor height of 18m.

The system which includes external wall panels and internal compartmentalisation walls is loadbearing and structurally self-supporting. Tailored to Weston Homes' specifications, these panels are pre-installed with head shutters, windows and doors to form the core of Tayfen Court. The panels are equipped with internal and external insulation, as well as brick tie channels, ensuring airtightness, thermal efficiency, acoustic performance, and fire safety.

In using this system, the project timeline has been significantly reduced to 13 months, compared to the typical 18 months for traditional brick-and-block construction, with an average installation rate of 15 panels per day. The first panel was installed on 01 August and topping out began in late October. Initial completions are anticipated by March 2025. British Offsite Managing Director, Shaun Weston, said: “We are thrilled that UNisystem panels are being delivered and installed on-site in Bury St Edmunds. Tayfen Court showcases the potential of our UNisystem technology in delivering high-quality, energy-efficient homes swiftly and reliably.

“Our product is fast, adaptable, reliable and competitive, making it an ideal solution for modern construction needs. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to innovation and excellence in offsite construction.”
