British Offsite enters retirement living sector with £1.47million Wates Residential contract

British Offsite has announced the agreement of a new £1.47million contract with Wates Residential, marking its first venture into the retirement living market.

This landmark project for the Hillbourne development in Poole will feature British Offsite's UNisystem that will deliver 29 purpose-built retirement apartments over 14 weeks.

The project will incorporate UNisystemLB (loadbearing), and help to meet the growing demand for energy-efficient, sustainable and low-maintenance housing within the retirement living sector.

UNisystemLB is a load-bearing structurally self-supporting system comprising UNipanelLB (external wall panels) and UNiwallLB (internal compartmentalisation walls), capable of rapid deployment of low-rise housing and mid-rise buildings. UNisystemLB saves significant build programme time (potentially 30-50% or more), making it a compelling choice for use on mid-rise apartment blocks, retirement apartments, healthcare, education, student accommodation projects and many others.

The British Offsite UNisystemLB panels come complete with internal and external insulation and brick tie channels, ensuring superior airtightness, thermal efficiency, acoustic performance and non-combustible fire safety. The precision offsite manufacturing significantly accelerates the construction timeline, enabling faster compartmentalisation of floors and earlier customer viewings, thus enhancing asset value for developers.

British Offsite will be providing panels, walls, floors, stairs, pre-cast lift cores and roofing elements for Wates Residential. The Hillbourne project will be operated by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole District Council and will cater to the housing needs of the retirement residents in the community.

British Offsite will collaborate closely with Datum, who will be responsible for the on-site installation of the UNisystemLB and overall project management. The partnership will leverage Datum's experience to deliver the project efficiently and to the highest standard.

Shaun Weston, managing director at British Offsite, said: "We are delighted to announce our collaboration with Wates Residential on the Hillbourne project in Poole as we expand into the retirement living market. This is an important step forward in our mission to drive quality, efficiency and sustainability in UK housing. We are excited to demonstrate the benefits of our UNisystemLB and provide a model for the future of retirement accommodation that offers the rapid delivery of highly insulated, energy-efficient apartments."
