Salvesen Insulated
Frames Ltd, trading as offsite light steel superstructure manufacturer Fusion
Building Systems, has been awarded an International Safety Award from the
British Safety Council for protecting its employees from risk of injury and ill
health at work.
Fusion won the Award
based on its application which demonstrated how the Company has progressed with
its standards of health, safety and welfare management. It was one of over 500
businesses recognised for their commitment to workplace healthy and safe during
the 2019 - 20 calendar year.
Now in their 62nd

from around the world which have demonstrated, to the satisfaction of the
scheme’s independent judges, their commitment to preventing workplace injuries
and work-related ill health. The Awards also recognise organisations which have
shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.
Fusion Building Systems
became a Member of the British Safety Council in 2018 as it put into practice
its it laid its plans for achieving industry-leading health and safety standards
and performance levels, and to set a benchmark for the offsite construction
sector as a whole.
As a Member, Fusion is
able to access the latest health and safety information, stay up to date on all
legislative changes and utilise the training resources made available for employees,
with the aim of achieving a positive and proactive health and safety culture
right across the business.
David Bayliss, Fusion
Health & Safety Manager, said: “We entered these Awards because we wanted
confirmation that our standards of health and safety in the workplace were
commendable. Robust health and safety procedures are important for any
business, but in construction, the risks could be considered more severe –
which is why independent recognition is so important. We’re extremely pleased
to have won this Award and will waste no time in telling those we work with of
our achievement.”
Mike Robinson, Chief
Executive of the British Safety Council, added: “The British Safety Council
comments Salvesen Insulated Frames (TA Fusion Building Systems) on their
achievement. The Award is recognition of their commitment and efforts to keep
their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.
“The vision of the
British Safety Council is that no one should be injured or made ill through
work, anywhere in the world. Realising it requires more than legislation,
people committed to health and safety, and increasingly also to workplace
wellbeing, make it a reality and inspire others to create workplaces that
are key force for good.”
Fusion’s health and
safety record over the past nine years is significantly better than average for
the manufacturing facility and is industry-leading on-site. The Company also
holds accreditations with CHAS (Contractors Health & Safety Assessment
Scheme), BOPAS (Build Offsite Property Insurance Scheme), ISO9001, ISO14001,
and is a member of industry bodies including the SCI (Steel Construction
Institute) and the Light Steel Frame Association (LSFA).
